Join us for a very special screening of Farmers For America at Project Farmhouse.

The Location: Project Farmhouse is a space where New Yorkers of all stripes can get closer to our food, to the land and to our neighbors.  The first of its kind in New York, Project Farmhouse gives sustainability a platform for dialogue and action.

The evening begins at 6 with a reception featuring local popcorn, fresh fruit and other light refreshments from New York farmers.

At 7, the film will be introduced by the director. Directly following there will be a discussion about the future of farming with some of the leading voices of America’s next agriculture:

Yemi Amu is the co-founder of Oko Farms and the Farm Manager at the Moore Street Farm. She has facilitated the creation and maintenance of 20 edible spaces (in NYC) at schools and community organizations including a rooftop farm in Crown Heights and a 1/4 acre farm at the Weeksville Heritage Center that included poultry and bees. She has a Masters Degree in Health and Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Lindsey Lusher Shute co-founded NYFC as a platform for young, progressive farmers to have a meaningful influence on the structural obstacles in the way of their success. Lindsey is a respected speaker and an expert on the structural issues facing family farms. In 2014, she was named a “Champion of Change” by the White House. She and her husband own and operate Hearty Roots farm in the Hudson Valley.

Graham Meriwether is the director of Farmers For America. His documentary work focuses on elevating the voice of farmers in the national discourse about food and farming. He is also the founder and director of Leave It Better Foundation- a NY-based non-profit- that focuses on youth-led programs that focus on healing, both inside and out.

Chris Wayne is FARMroots Director, where he works to develop and manage technical assistance programming for both beginning farmers and established farmers who sell through the Greenmarket Program, with a specific focus on land transition, succession, and marketing projects. Chris came to GrowNYC in 2009 after 2 years of small scale fruit and vegetable farming in Costa Rica and a childhood on his dad's farm in Danbury, CT.
